Can this Scottish woman help you make $1m in a year?

A Highlands-based businesswoman has launched what she calls “one of the most unique social experiments of the century” – looking to help people make $1 million (£767,000) in a year.

Joanna Hunter, a psychic, spiritual life and business coach and the author of Get Selfish, The Way Is Through, has created My Million Dollar Experiment – “the world's largest metaphysical mindset and intuition experiment” that looks to determine whether consciousness can create wealth.

It aims to see if mindset and intuition can help participants create an “extraordinary conscious change” in their life, and more money, throughout the course of 2021. Ms Hunter told The Scotsman that nearly 500 people have signed up already (“they’re raring to go… the vibe in the group is really great”), from the likes of North America, Australia, Singapore, Iceland, and across Europe.

Ms Hunter said those taking part can “create something incredible” – and she believes the onset of the pandemic will see even more people in a place where they are willing to try “something crazy”.

Participants are given "simple step-by-step instructions” alongside mindset tools, intuition training, and group support. The programme includes weekly teachings from “leading mindset experts,” and data will be collected at four points in the year.

It comes after Ms Hunter some years ago suffered a major burnout, ending up in hospital with multiple organ failure and told to prepare her family for the worst. She decided to pursue a gentler way of life, and in 2011 launched her spiritual coaching business, now working with clients all over the world. She is also studying for a doctorate in metaphysical science, which looks beyond the physical world.

"For many years I lived my life in constant worry and stress over money. It stole my peace of mind, sucked the joy out of many situations that should have been good, and robbed me of being fully present for the people I loved the most,” she said, adding that she felt very “stuck, very hard done by”.

And she said that billions of people face the same struggle every day. “I want to help change that,” she added, and is highly excited about this experiment, feeing that the idea came from “the divine”. “I know [it] will change lives and help people step out of the money struggle. I want to show people that their minds are incredibly powerful… they can create a life by design.”

But what does she say to anyone cynical about whether they can achieve the $1m goal?

"If you're open and available and willing to shift your mindset, by all means join us,” she said, but stressed that if not, “and you want to keep very, very attached to that cynical mindset, then I would say, don't bother joining the experiment, it's not going to work for you. The whole premise is that you are going to have to be willing to change as a person to go through it.”

And she admits that some people may not reach the million-dollar target, but could “completely and utterly” change their mindset in the year, “and that is a theme that will grow into something amazing down the line”.

The experiment costs $25 to join, and registration is available until 31 December.
